Kyla Fradette

     Inspired by her jazz and country roots, soprano Kyla Fradette frequently performs in Vancouver, bringing versatility and depth to every stage. She is trained in classical voice, musical theatre, jazz, and pop, with extensive experience in both solo and ensemble singing, and also works as an actor and songwriter exploring a range of genres.

     Kyla holds a Musical Theatre Diploma from Capilano University as well as a Bachelor of Music from the University of Victoria, where she studied under Benjamin Butterfield and presented a graduating recital of operatic, art song, and modern theatre repertoire.

 

     With seven years of post-secondary training in music, dance, history, and performance, she brings this rich background into her teaching. Kyla’s philosophy emphasizes healthy technique, artistic individuality, and musicianship, and she believes acting and movement training are essential to voice instruction, fostering body awareness, performance skills, and a deeper connection to the histories of Western classical and popular music.

Kyla Fradette recently premiered the role of Kevin in the new Korean-Canadian musical 링크 (R;Link Musical), which debuted in Seoul, Korea in July 2025.

Voice Work

Opera | Musical Theatre | Voice Over | Songwriting

In addition to recieving a Bachelors of Music (Classical Voice) and Diploma in Musical Theatre (Performance), Kyla has also been trained in voice over techniques (commercial/animation) and continues to expand her artistry as a songwriter and composer.

Stage and Screen

Theatre | Film | Improvisation

With training in both stage and film acting, Kyla strives to bring authenticity and a grounded presence to her stage, screen, and teaching work.

Movement and Dance

Dance | Mocap | Stage Combat

Kyla has been trained in various styles of dance including tap, jazz, ballet, modern, and hip-hop.  In addition, Kyla has also received motion capture (mocap) and stage combat training by FDC certified trainers and industry professionals.

Educator

As a music teacher, Kyla is dedicated to fostering her students' growth, developing strong performance skills, and building long-lasting vocal health.

Other Skills

Languages | Athletics | Photography

Kyla has studied Spanish, French, German, Italian and Latin.  She is also skilled in roller skating, snowboarding, weightlifting, and other athletics.  When she's not performing or teaching, Kyla runs a photography studio in Vancouver.
